What a typical day

looks like at our Cub Care Program

Cub Care opens each morning at 6:00 AM.

Elementary-aged members meet in the schools’ cafeterias to participate in table activities and gym time. Members keep busy until it is time to be dismissed to the breakfast line or classroom.

At Custer Baker Intermediate Schools (CBIS), members meet in a classroom and play cards and board games or do jewelry crafts each morning. Staff also offer gym activity time for about a half hour before their school day starts.

During afternoon Cub Care

Members from each school report to an assigned area for the After School Program. The members start by eating a nutritious snack. Afterward, it is time for homework and reading. With program areas located in the cafeteria or gym, they are then divided into grade-appropriate activities at tables, in the gym, or on playgrounds during good weather.

During table activities, crafts are planned for the members to complete, or they can get creative with various building toys. They love to create with LEGOs, Magna-Tiles, wooden blocks, and Plus-Plus sets. There is also an opportunity for imaginative and social interaction while playing with dolls, animals, and food and table sets.

They also love to interact with cars, trains, and trucks. In the gym, they play tag games, kickball, cooperative games, and have free time to play. Their favorite activity is playing outside. The playgrounds, open fields, and basketball courts are filled with members running, playing, and laughing.

Don't take our word for it...

Here's what our parents say about Cub Care

"Cub Care has been a life saver for before and after school care, especially for Wednesday early release days! We really love the flexibility and the affordability and I know my kids are getting to hang out with their friends and have someone to help them knock out their homework, and get burn some energy before the come home! They especially love the extra time on the playground and the gym! "

"Love the after school program at Webb. My kids enjoy going and get upset on the days they aren’t there or wish they were there longer."

"So far our experience with the boys and girls club has been good. With being new guardians and needing help with care - Cub Care has been a great help. The staff is good at keeping us updated"

"We love the Boys and Girls Club and have sent all of our kids there. Today, we have a Kindergartener, fourth grader and sixth grader. I'm so grateful our kids have a place to go that keeps them active, allows them to work on their homework, and encourages creativity and fun. When our first son started going there after school, I remember noticing how many more kids he knew when we would go places around town - like the library or local festivals. I appreciate that the kids are able to build friendships with others outside of their class and and school. We also love the staff and the extracurricular activities that are offered for youth."
